Especially when you're of legal age to drink in pubs and night clubs.

So my sister had a birthday lastnight, a bunch of us went and hit up a buncha night clubs and bars. It was great. From what I remember she and my brother in law left around 2:30 in the morning. I got home about 4.
But while I was there my boss (who's a long time friend of both my brother in law and sister) was having some problems with his girl, seems as though some of her friends from Sydney had come up and she fell back into some old habbits. He asked if I could take over his shift the next day. I said sure, heck it's another couple hundred. I get home, go to sleep, wake up three hours later in a bit of a haze and go to work.

I was dragging ass most of the day, then something happened that jump started my day!
We have a show out here called "My resteraunt (rules)". it's kind of like a reality tv show where a few groups of people all over Australia are trying to become resteraunt owners and stuff, they go against eachother. The chefs went into this training school, and guess who's working as one of the head guys on the show in there?! None other than my oldest brother in Bondi. He's been working at a bunch of upstanding resteraunts and night clubs doing tons of stuff. He's won tons of awards, so they got him on there. I sat up and about yelled "Fuck! That's Scott!" it scared the shit out of the dude I was working with.... Poor guy.

That about sums up my day, probably gonna go to bed early tonight because I've got another shift tomorrow.

My first 8 hours in the Army recruiting center

It all went well, I'm kind of down a bit, but trying to keep a positive attitude. It could have been worse, a lot worse.

I took the big aptitude test, and psych test. I scored top in the class. My recruiter said that I was well into Officer range. I was happy about that, very happy. The only down side (for me) is that Psychology isn't offered as one of the classes to take there. So then I'm told that I can go to the RMC (Royal Military College) to become an Intelligence Corps Officer. From there I can also take a Psychology course and it'll be paid for. The other route I can take is enlisting as a Psych Evaluator since I'm already qualified to do that. I'd be able to take a Psych course just as I would be as an officer, but it'd take way longer to do, and there aren't any guarantees of me becoming an officer later on. The good side of that is I can get in right away where as I'd have to wait till May to get into the RMC to become an officer.

Back to the 'it could have been worse' part though. I made friends with two guys who were enlisting. One of them was becoming a driver. (About the slowest job in the military that isn't pushing paper) He was a good kid, really stressing over it, and couldn't keep his legs from bouncing he was so nervous. He told me that his parents as well as most of his family told him that he couldn't do it, and he wouldn't amount to anything. He ended up only answering 53/100 questions on the test in the 40 minutes we were allowed. They said he answered most of them right, but didn't answer enough, so he'd have to come back again in six months. We all felt pretty bad for him.
The other guy was cool, he was trying out for the Special Forces. He had the right attitude and build for it too, he could have gone far. That was about the only thing he put in for. Turns out you've got to be 25 to enter in the Special Forces division, so he didn't get in. He got 82/100 questions in the 40 minutes.
I got 97/100 in the 40 minutes, some of the questions were thinkers too haha... For the first time in a long time people referred to me as the brain, and looked up to me for my intellect rather than my TaeKwon-Do. It was a nice change.

I'm going back on the 21st to get all of the other tests done. It'll be exciting. I lost $400 though :(
The only slot they had open for the final exams were on a Monday which is one of my 24 hour shifts, and I had to give it up. Oh well, it'll all work out for the better in the end.

~Vic-Man

An honest man has nothing to fear...

So I found out how fast a dude strung out on speed can run, and for how long when he doesn't want to get in trouble today! Interested?

The Wednesday 24 hour shift went as follows:
Arrived at 8:30 am to take over Aalden's shift, upon arrival I noticed that the person I was supposed to be taking care of wasn't there. Aalden informed me that he'd run away some time early that morning, or late at night. I sat around till about 9:30 to wait incase he came back, then I got a call. A very feminine voice came on over it, and informed me that he wouldn't be coming home till around 7 pm. I said very well mate, where are ya? I was told that I wasn't to know.

Very well... So I looked at the call register since 'Gay Pride Australia' wasn't smart enough to call from an unregistered number while absconding. I called up da boss and told him the situation. He said no worries, go home and check on the house every hour or two till 7 to make sure he's home. I then told him that I had the number where he called me from. (He was so proud)

As I'm walking home (I live about three blocks away from this guy which is kinda scary) the phone rings. "Care & Respite, this is Victor speaking" Then... The voice of a very angry flaming homosexual comes across on the other line... "If you or the boss call this phone again I'm going to call the police!" *click* So I chuckle to myself since if he called the police he'd be the only one in trouble as we were just doing our jobs. (I wasn't to know where he was because when that happens he's either prostituting himself, on drugs, or both) Threats make me mad, but empty ones for some reason agitate me even more.
I called up the boss again to report it. When he goes off the hook we have to report it. We both had a bit of a chuckle.

I'm home, I'm relaxing, I'm listening to some music... The phone yet again rings... "Care & Respite, this is Victor speaking" The voice of the flamer once again, this time in agitated distress with a hint of trickery! "Victor, I need to ask you a question! Do the workers need papers to enter my house?" I then explained to him that since we're under contract with the state of Queensland, as well as a judge, and his parents that we don't need papers to enter his residence. When asking how he was doing and if he was planning to return I got the drama queen hang up. So I figure he's doing ok, I walk back to the couch to return to my music.

I check on the house a few times, each visit makes me sick to my stomach. Upon entering the house I notice that there are condom wrappers scattered over the floor, the kitchen is disgusting due to butter left out over night, and many many particles of food left to sit on the counter. (This is regular, Mr. Limp Wrist waits for us to go to sleep up in the carer's room before he decides to get bored and destroy his house) I also notice that there are broken light bulbs over the floor. I grab a broom, sweep up the glass, and other junk on the floor, toss some of the rubbish lying around out, and sweep the condom wrappers into a corner so I wouldn't have to see, or touch them. Once he got home it was time to turn from Mrs. Dirty into Mr. Clean.

I go home again to return to my relaxation. As I arrive back home I get another call... "Care & Respite, this is Victor Speaking..." A shrill pain entered my ear.... "Victor, I won't be coming home at all tonight, I'm staying with a client." Before I have time to tell him that he needs to consider his options, and be aware that he can catch diseases, among other things the phone was yet again hung up. (In situations like this our hands are tied.. He's an independent so he can make his own choices... While the law and his parents tell us that he's not to do any of this he got himself a lawyer behind our backs. The lawyer (in his self righteous scum of the earth defense attorney way) informed us that since his cliant was over 18 he could make his own choices, to hinder him from doing so would be grounds for removal from the company. Catch 22 anyone? So again I call up my boss, and inform him of the situation. He understands as this happens every other week. He tells me to go home and get some rest, and to return in the morning so that I can be relieved of my shift. (All the while I'm still getting paid)

After a while I decide that I need to stop my session of relaxation and go for a 6k run. I'm feeling pretty good as I'm able to keep up a run the whole way without getting winded after stopping. Running always makes me happy. I'm walking home enjoying the fresh pre thunderstorm air, and tropical Queensland flora. As I walk up the stairs to my house I hear something, it sounds like my name.. I shrug it off and shut the door. Then I hear it again. Yes, this is definitely my voice being called. I open the door to behold... The nightmare of my day... The rainbow warrior was standing at my door. He was walking around the neighborhood and went in to pat my next door neighbour's dog. Had I of had half a brain I would have said something like "I've been looking all over for you, get back to your fucking house right now!" But I didn't. I was taken by surprise. I asked if he was ok, and he nodded as best he could while stoned. I told him I was going to go take a shower as I'd just run. He said he was going to go back to his cliant's house. Now he knows where I live. It doesn't scare me seeing as how he's 90 lbs. if that, and couldn't fight his way out of a soggy paper bag.

I go to bed later on still somewhat rattled. The alarm's been set, and I'm happy that the day's behind me.

The alarm wakes me up in the morning, I jump out of bed ready to go. Hope in a nice cold shower, get dressed, eat a sammich for breakfast, and head on over. Waiting there for me are my boss and a lovely worker who I'd done many shifts with in the past with other people. It was her first shift, so the boss was talking her over things, especially since he was pulling all this crap. We get to talking, I relieve the boss, and show her the ropes. We talk for a bit, getting back to all the times with the other cliants. Then... It happens... We notice that the window had been kicked in. There's no more glass as all of the old stuff had been broken. This was plexi glass... Dunked in a vat of acid, and used as an atom bomb target this might have cracked or splintered in some way. Apparently while in his state the night before he'd lost his keys and kicked it in. No plexi glass was broken, but the frame was bent so badly that Oprah wouldn't have made a sound getting through. We looked through the house, he was nowhere to be found. But he'd made more of a mess while staying. I wrote up an incident report, and a loss/damage report for the window. (Lots of paper work in my field) He's still nowhere to be found. I go home when the other worker felt like she was ready to go solo..

I got some chores done, did some laundry, and cleaned. Then I got to wondering how the other worker was doing. I made my way over to the house to check. When I got to the door the worker was just leaving. She'd cleaned his entire downstairs. This was an amazing feat. I told her that no other worker would dare tackle that unless Queer Bait was present. Then it happened to her... It was like watching a soldier fall in the field... She got the call. We now needed to go to the train station to pick up Mr. Flamer. She asked if I would join her, so I agree to go. I've nothing better to do, and I need to chat with him about yesterday's choices. As we arrive the Backdoor Bandit is very surprised to see me. He hops in the car and we drive home. I explained that what occured the previous day was unacceptable, and that it won't happen again. My co worker also explained that a woman of her age shouldn't have to clean up such a mess, and that even out of common if not public health that the house should be kept clean for not only himself, but the other workers. The Tea Bagging Terror seemed somewhat remorseful.

We arrive back to the house and I examine the window for possible ways to fix it. The outlook was grim.
While doing so Drugs McFeelshimself took a shower. The other worker told me that while cleaning she came across some drugs left in the open. She had told him that he'd better come to take care of it in a ploy to get him to come home, but it was insited that the worker keep it as he was going to be on meth amphetamines during the trip to Brisbane that he would be taking later that day. This wasn't suprising. As Tutti Frutti was coming down from his shower a car pulled up, it was the boss. Never have I seen anyone move toward the door that fast. The boss saw him run, and asked what had happened. The best we could figure is that due to the window being kicked in Mr. $2 ho had been afraid of getting into trouble. The boss thought this was very funny, and went to go find him. The only reason he'd come was to say good bye, and discuss him needing to take care of himself.

The Queen came home soon after the boss had left, and then bolted again. He was about to miss his train so I bolted after him. This leads to the start of the update. He sprinted over a quarter of a mile flat out with me hot on his heels. The thought of tackling, or ankle tapping him had crossed my mind, but if he were to be injured I'd be responsible. Keeping just on him I told him that he'd miss his train, and that he needed to pick up his luggage. The sprint wasn't all futile, I found out where his druggie friends resided. So now I can show up there and drag him out if need be. I stop as he runs inside, and walk back to the carer's house. (Had I of entered the reidence I would have been trespassing, and might have enticed a fight which was sad because I wouldn't mind beating every single person in that house to a bloody pulp) I turn to walk back and the landscaper at the house two doors down asked if he'd stolen something from me. I said no, I'm his carer and he's about to miss his train. This coming from a 19 year old tearing after a 21 year old might have been looked upon with some apprehension in the States, but not here. I get back, and about five minutes later the a sorry looking still out of breath figure comes inside. I stood up and told him that I love running, but if he ever made me run after him again that there would be serious consequences, and that I'm his worker, I look after him, not try and hurt him. The pathetic figure nods slowly and goes for his drink. We then get in the car to go to the train station. Ten minutes later the ugly woman, or very feminine man (it's still being decided) sitting behind me in the back seat is still puffing and panting. This made me wonder why he kept running (as out of shape as he is) well after most normal people would give up. He had clearly gone over and beyond his body's limits as he was struggling to even speak. I supposed that it was the meth he'd been smoking the previous night, and morning. It was comical though. All that extra work on my day off. It seems as though the days I'm not working are more interesting than the days I am working sometimes.

I'd like to point out that the use of names when referring to him was just in jest as the post was very long, and I figured it might add a bit of laughter to such a time consuming read. When he's on his good weeks he is very nice to work with, and I enjoy the hours. When he wants to be he can be a good kid, it's the other times that worry us. I hope you guys had as much fun reading it as I did experiencing it ;)

~Vic-Man

Well the new house is great, I've been in it for about a week now. The boss called and told me that I'd have 8 days paid vacation because of some schedule mix ups. It's been pretty boring. I did have a chance to sort things out with the house though. Plus I got the internet back up! I signed up for ADSL, but they didn't have an open port, so they gave me a month of 56k for free. By then they should have the ADSL port up, so I'm happy. I go to work tomorrow, looking forward to it, but not looking forward to the guy I'm working with. I have a meeting with a future client though, as well as another one on Friday. The hours should still be about the same. Since I don't have my tax file number yet I'm still getting bent over with taxes... So far out of two pay checks they've taken $1,764 out. That's for a month! Since I don't have the TFN they take $.48 out of every dollar I earn. I get it back once tax time comes around though. Once I get the TFN I should be earning the full 2k a fortnight though.

It seems as though the avenue to returning to the states is closing rather fast. Things aren't going so well with the parents up North, and they might not be there when I had planned to move back up there. I've been told it's better to settle down here rather than move back up there with nothing. That being the case I've looked into more secure jobs. I took the Army aptitude test today, and apparently I scored rather well. They said I should look into technical, or high ability lines. For my three choices I picked 1. Psych Examiner
2. Commando (Yeah hahaha that actually came up since I answered the questions right, and I'm in good physical condition)
3. Rifleman

I should have put Leopard crewman in as my third, but I can change that once I talk with the recruiting officer on the 10th. of Feb. (Leopards are the kind of tank we use down here, they seem alright. I didn't want to go near the LAV, or APC units though) I'd be taking about a $10k pay cut a year, but they'd be paying for my housing as well as education, so I think it about evens out over time. I think the highlight of the meeting with the recruiting officer will be when he broaches the subject of choice #2.

In other news I've been told (by an American!) that I am getting my accent back. Plus I've been told that I'm turning brown. Who knew I could actually have some sort of tan?! I hope you all are having as good a time as I am. I'm looking into the cost of visits to America. (If I did join the Army I'd get a 4 week leave to do whatever I wanted, and they'd pay for my ticket out there, so that's cool)

Well, I just got done with another 36 hour shift followed by a 12 the next day. It's all fun and stuff, just gets me kinda tired sometimes. Tomorrow would be the big move, but most of my stuff's over in the states, so it'll take all of an hour mwahaha. I'll get handed the first set of keys to my first home. Pretty exciting. A few co workers have friends/family in a TKD school down here, one of them does tournaments, and I'm hoping it's not a WTF school.... If in the off chance that it's not a WTF school I'll probably enroll, and start up training again. I'm losing weight, but I think it's just muscle right now.

Things in work are really looking up, (not like they were down before or anything, but they're going up another notch) two of the kids I work with love having me around. The older of the two asked that I, and only I teach him some Algebra, and Geometry before he gets back into school so he can be caught up. This means that I've got to relearn a lot of the stuff I used to do. He's just doing the basics right now, so it's a bit easier on me. The other one won't leave my hip and constantly seeks my approval. They both thought they'd have a go at me the other night though... The smaller one's about an inch shorter than I am, and weighs the same.. He's a bit spastic. The older one's 6'1, and weighs about 210. They tried to take me down while I was sitting on the couch enjoying some TV. I got the little one in a wrist lock till he tapped out, then with the big one on my back I pressed a few facial pressure points till he squealed like a little girl and gave up. It was a good laugh. Reading their files, and seeing what's gone on in their lives is tragic. Some of the things they've gone through was really horrific. Seeing them laugh and smile when we're wrestling, or they try and sneak up on me when I'm doing something makes me really happy. The boss got really shitted off that one of the workers kept changing her schedule around, so I got all of her good paying shifts. It's working out really well.

In other news... I was walking to the toilet tonight while my sister had her wax kit out for my brother in law.. Some how I got talked into getting part of the bottom of my leg waxed. Now I've got a 2" x 2" patch of baldness right above my ankle. I really thought that I'd had a bit of a tan on my legs, and was proud of it.. My thoughts about it were put to rest tonight though, seems as though no sunlight ever penetrated the phalanx of hair. Oh well. It'll probably be back in full force tomorrow though, so I'm not too worried.

Anyway, I'll not have any internet for a few days while I move into my new place, so this is Vic-Man... Signing off...

Well, as the subject says I've got good news.... I got a phone call at 9 this morning saying that I'd been approved for the home I put an application in for. It's a 2 bedroom Queenslander (House on stilts) that's got a huge back yard, a big balcony, and a bar! It even comes equipped with a mother and baby possum in the outside closet. I wasn't too excited about that one, but they should be moving out when I move in. So tomorrow at 11 am I go into the reality place, and sign all the papers. Starting January 18th I'll be on my own!

I've been thinking a lot about my choices though... If I stayed here I'd be earning about ten times what I would be over in the states. I'm just out of high school making $48,000 a year (Wouldn't happen over in America. To get what I've got now I'd need an associates degree, and be atleast 21 so that the insurance would cover me driving) and staying in my own home that's $140 a week ($560 a month) which is just about what you'd get for a good flat over in America. I'm only home on Tuesdays and Thursdays because of the hours I work, and eat at work anyway, so really all of my expenses are way down. On the other hand I've got the life I lived over in America, as well as the friends, and opportunities I had. I miss my friends a lot, and down here it's looking like no TaeKwon-Do, or US/AUS TaeKwon-Do team. I have the internship I can go to over there, but it's basically the same thing I'm doing here, only I wouldn't get paid to do it. The lease on the house is only 6 months, which is around the time I'd planned on coming back to the states, and I signed on for 6 months for that reason. I guess I'll just have to think it out as the time goes on.
I do plan on coming back to the states, it's just a matter of when.

It's kind of ironic... All through growing up I was always afraid that my friends and I would go to college, but I'd go to an in state, and everyone else would leave. In the end it was me that left, and I was all worried about nothing.

So I just got back from the pub with my Uncle and his friends. I learned a very good lesson: Don't go in the deep end unless you know how to swim. In Australia we have a tradition called 'shout', a 'shout' is where you buy the drinks for everyone, so you buy the drinks, then the next person buys the drinks, and so on... So to keep in the order going I was downing my beer to try and keep up with everyone. 3 schooners and a pot later I was going pretty good. A schooner is a glass of beer which is equal to about 1 and 1/2 cans, a pot is about 1 and 1/4. I'd downed all this in about an hour and a half... Normally I would have been fine doing it, but the beer out here is a bit stronger. It tastes a whole lot better too, goes down easy, tastes great, smells good, looks good... Hell, it gives me a boner just thinking about it. Anyway, I got home and was pretty toasted.. Not drunk, but tipsy... Where you have a bit of delayed reaction for a sec, then everything's good. I'd suggest that anyone who wants to come to Australia should do it, anyone who wants to drink down here in Australia should do it, and anyone who just wants beer should leave their name, address, and some money, I'll send them some real beer.... Miller, Heinekin, Bud, and Rolling Rock doesn't have anything on this stuff, it's great. Anyway, I'm out... I hope you all are having as much fun as I am!

    <lj:music>Music to some movie</lj:music>

As I sit here in Australia having the time of my life in paradise a thought came to mind that always lingers somwhere in the back of my head, and shows its self when I'm having fun, or doing things I normally wouldn't. I'm 19 years of age, yesterday I was 4, and tomorrow I'll be 70. I look back upon my younger years, and it seems as though I was just there. Looking forward I know that when I'm 70 I'll look back on myself as I sit here now thinking that it was just yesterday. Whenever I've been in trouble, or pain I always told myself that it'd be over before I knew it, and I'd look back on it and it'd just be a memory. I think it's backfired, I know that everything will be over before I know it, and it'll all just be a memory which I look back on and wonder where all the time's gone. I know that no matter what I do, no matter how much fun I have, no matter how much I live while I'm alive that it'll all be over soon, and I won't have anything more than a story to show of it. Knowing or being reminded of my own mortality gives me mixed emotions of sadness, anger, and denial. Sadness that I'll soon be old and just have my memories, and hopefully led a full and happy life, anger that I am now old, and have lived something that means nothing to me, denial that it's all happened, and is over. I've heard lots of people talk about the meaning of life, some religious, some positive, some negative, and some apathetic, but I want to know what the meaning of life is, I want to know why I'm here doing things that will some day just be a memory. I want every experience this world has to offer, but I know that in the end it won't matter for anyting more than a story. I guess just having fun and living while I'm alive is my only option.

Well, on Saturday the 21st I got a tattoo down my spine, the one that I've been waiting to get for a long time. It says TaeKwon-Do Warrior in Korean symbols, it rocks!
The funny thing (that's funny now, but wasn't at the time) is that while he was on the second character he stops and goes "OH SHIT!". I froze, everyone spun around and looked, then he says to his co worker "Yeah, I left the print in the car" and goes back to zapping my back. I about packed my pants.

My room's very clean now, got the futon set up with the black cover on which looks really cool, my bed, and now... The couch! A love seat that folds out into a bed hehe. So my room's pimp city.

All my friends started school already, so I'm the odd one out. Most of them are mad because I won't be going to school again for another year and a half or so... Woot for Australia!!!!!

Apparently Heather has a class with Staci, that's got to be fun. I guess she dropped out of it last year when I broke up with her because of all the stress. She feeds off of drama, how mellow dramatic is that? The only good thing about the relationship is how I feel now that I'm out, and the people I met.

Well, I decided that since I was going to have to get up at 3 in the morning for the shuttle anyway I wouldn't go to sleep that night. I stayed up, got the shuttle, got to the air port, and thus began the worst day I've had in a long time.

When I get there everything's closed, so I had to sit and wait for the ticketing counter to open at 4:30, then got my stuff, went up to the terminal... Oops, they lost a plane, gotta go to a different terminal. That was ok, not much, right? So I wait there and finally 2 hours later I get on the plane. One of two cool things happened on that trip was I got to go walk out on the tramac, or whatever and get on this tiny ass plane.

I get there, hop a taxi to the Australian Consulate thinking everything's going to be cool.... $40 dollars later the taxi gets me to the consulate at 8. Then I go up, and the place doesn't open till 9. I wait outside for an hour, finally get in, and I'm first in line. This is the second good part... The woman who interviewed me at the consulate was hot hot hot... She had her Aussie accent too. Then it went bad again... The douche that took the passport photos did it wrong, so I've got to get new ones and mail them in.
I left to go back to the air port, and walk up to the front dest, ask them for a taxi, but I guess they're too good to deal with taxi companies, or young people like me. So I walk outside, ask someone where I can catch a taxi at, and they give me directions... Half an hour later I'm still walking around down town LA with a book of Freud's writings in one hand, and a big manilla folder full of passport stuff in the other... How white is that? (Not a good thing where I was) Turns out the directions were wrong, and there wasn't any taxi thing anywhere... Then... A few minutes later... Behold! A hotell. (It was the Hyatt Tracine LOL!) I walk up to the cab, and another $40 later I'm back at LAX.
I go, tell the ticket people that I've got to get home ASAP (which I could do since I'm on stand by) and that my original time was 7:45 at night. By this time it was 11:30, and their next flight out was 12:45, so I said sure!
That one was over booked, and then there was another terminal change so I didn't really get much time to sleep... The only time I did sleep was waiting in the terminal making an ass of myself, because I'd fall asleep and 5 minutes later jump and wake up. So I ended that quick.
Then they find a plane, I get on, and I'm home by 2.

I saw Mike later that day which was cool, and we went to Wendy's, then I got home, stayed up till 5 in the afternoon, and went to bed since I'd been up around 30 hours. I figured I'd get an hour or two of sleep, but I ended up waking up at 6:30 in the morning, so it felt kinda good.

Black belt testing tonight, then I'm going to see Without A Paddle! Woo woo!!!!

Well, America's screwing me over again.... Turns out that since I'm an Aussie citizen I have to show up in person to the consulate to get my passport... Soooo... The super shittle (lol) is coming to pick me up between 3:10, and 3:20 am for my flight, then I have to wait around in LAX for a few hours when the consulate opens at 9 or something. Then wait in line for hours, answer a zillion questions, then fly out at 7 pm haha... So I get the day in LA!

I'm missin Kurtis and Heather though, they took off for Colorado, and I biffed my last chance to see them for the next few days :(
They seemed to be making good time though.

My birthday was fun though, I happily celebrated the useless age of 19. Wayne and I drove his new Grand Prix down to Tucson, and some girls we know made us taco's! That's about as far as I've gone for food, but later on... The greatest thing before going to Australia... Andrew, and Sean are taking a road trip to Missouri for the soul purpose of eating at White Castle... I'ma be there too if I'm lucky! Hahahahaha!

So anyway, I've got things to meet, people to do... Later all!

(Tracine, nothing about the you-know-what)
